Job Description & How to Apply Below

Area of Specialty: Terminal Expansion / Aviation Standards and Local Codes / Mechanical Systems

We are currently scaling our inspection team at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). With the airport undergoing a massive multi-year expansion, we need a Mechanical Inspector who thrives in high-stakes, complex environments and wants to leave their mark on a landmark Austin project.

As a Mechanical Inspector supporting Austin International Airport, you will be the gatekeeper of quality and safety for critical HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. You’ll work at the heart of one of the fastest-growing airports in the country, ensuring that complex mechanical installations meet rigorous aviation standards and local codes.

What You’ll Do

  • On-Site Oversight: Conduct thorough inspections of mechanical systems, including air handling units, chilled water systems, plumbing, and specialized aviation mechanical equipment.
  • Compliance & Standards: Verify that all work aligns with approved plans, specifications, and local building codes (UPC, UMC, etc.).
  • Documentation: Maintain precise daily logs, progress reports, and deficiency lists using digital project management tools.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate closely with project managers, general contractors, and airport stakeholders to resolve technical discrepancies in real-time.
  • Safety Leadership: Ensure all mechanical installations are performed under strict adherence to OSHA and airport-specific safety protocols.

What You’ll Bring

  • Deep Expertise: At least 5+ years of experience in mechanical inspection, specifically on large-scale commercial or industrial projects (Aviation experience is a massive plus).
  • Certifications: Valid state or ICC certifications in Mechanical and/or Plumbing inspection.
  • Technical Literacy: The ability to read complex blueprints, BIM models, and submittals with ease.
  • Communication Skills: A "firm but fair" approach to enforcement and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Austin Ready: A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a background check for a secure SIDA badge.

Why Join Us? This isn't just about checking boxes; it’s about ensuring the safety and comfort of millions of travelers.
