New Iron is seeking a Manufacturing Operator to join a fast-paced manufacturing team in Austin, TX. This 100% onsite role focuses on developing, implementing, and maintaining test processes for parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies in a dynamic production environment.
The ideal candidate brings foundational electrical and mechanical experience, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a drive to improve quality and efficiency through data-driven methods and continuous improvement.
This role requires standing for extended periods, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, lifting, color distinction, and using hand/power tools in potentially noisy environments. Work may take place in a cleanroom, requiring appropriate PPE including coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields.
Responsibilities- Develops, implements, and maintains fabrication processes for parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.
- Coordinates with engineering teams on product releases, improvements, and engineering change requests.
- Estimates costs, sets time standards, and recommends tooling/process needs; applies DFx to cut costs and boost quality.
- Creates test procedures and specs with design/software teams; supports test fixture design and sourcing.
- Collects operational/test data, evaluates results, and drives corrective/continuous improvements.
- Assesses work methods/policies, updates processes/documentation, and performs root cause analysis with reports.
- Conducts PFMECA for new product development.
- 1+ years of relevant experience
- Electrical, mechanical, and troubleshooting experience
- Proficiency with engineering functions/tools in computer applications
- Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering-based, e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering)
- Manufacturing experience (desired across technical areas)
- Data analytics capabilities (desired)
- Ability to solve straightforward problems using technical experience, judgment, and precedents
- Expanded conceptual knowledge in own discipline with broadening capabilities
- Understanding of key business drivers to accomplish work effectively
- Informal guidance to new team members (no formal supervisory responsibilities)
- Impacts quality of own work and team output; works within established guidelines and policies
- Clear communication of complex information in straightforward situations
