Senior Computer Vision / Machine Learning Engineer
Location: Austin, TX (Remote possible for exceptional candidates)
Compensation: Up to $300,000 base + Equity
About the OpportunityWe’re working with a rapidly growing defense technology startup developing a next-generation autonomous turret system that uses computer vision, machine learning, and advanced control algorithms to detect and neutralize small aerial threats.

- Lead the design and optimization of real-time computer vision algorithms for drone detection, tracking, and classification.
- Build and deploy efficient machine learning models that perform reliably in resource-constrained, mission-critical environments.
- Collaborate closely with embedded and hardware teams to integrate vision and control systems on custom platforms.
- Conduct extensive field testing to ensure robustness under diverse environmental conditions.
- Mentor junior engineers and shape best practices for ML and vision development.
- Contribute to hardening prototype systems into rugged, deployable platforms for various defense and security applications.
- Deep passion for computer vision, ML, and robotics — ideally with hands-on experience in autonomous systems.
- Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of professional experience building and deploying ML-based vision systems.
- Strong coding ability in Python and C++, with experience in Tensor Flow, Py Torch , or similar frameworks.
- Proven experience with real-time perception
, sensor fusion
, or embedded deployment of vision algorithms. - Familiarity with cameras, LIDAR, RADAR, or related sensor technologies.
- Excellent collaboration skills and an interest in mentoring and growing technical teams.
