Senior Structural Engineer

Overview

Are you an experienced structural engineer ready to step into a senior-level role with greater technical leadership and project influence? An established and fast‑growing engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for its Austin, TX office. This role is ideal for professionals with 10-15 years of experience who are ready to lead complex building projects, mentor teams, and act as a trusted technical resource for clients and colleagues.

In this senior role, you will provide both project leadership and advanced technical expertise, including:

• Leading structural design efforts from concept through construction on a variety of building types.
• Overseeing and reviewing the production of engineering documents, calculations, and technical deliverables.
• Guiding project teams in developing schedules, staffing plans, and project approaches.
• Serving as a technical mentor for mid‑level and junior engineers.
• Coordinating closely with BIM designers, architects, and contractors to resolve design challenges and integrate structural systems effectively.
• Conducting site observations, preparing technical reports, and addressing construction-phase inquiries.
• Reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals with a senior engineering lens.
• Supporting business development by maintaining strong client relationships and identifying opportunities for additional services.
• Applying advanced judgment on structural systems, materials, and constructability issues.

The ideal candidate will bring:

• 10-15 years of structural engineering experience
  , including project leadership and significant hands-on design.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university;

• Demonstrated expertise in the design of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry systems.
• Experience with building evaluations, renovations, adaptive reuse, and seismic considerations.
• Proven ability to independently manage multiple complex projects concurrently.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with experience mentoring engineering staff.
• A commitment to delivering exceptional service and building long-term client relationships.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering valued but not required.
