* POSITION SUMMARY:

** The Tooling Engineer will design tooling solutions for our 3rd Eye teams. You will collaborate with peers in software engineering, software quality assurance, and manufacturing management to define and develop hardware and software tools that will be used internally. Following defined design practices and the use of sound hardware and software engineering principles, you will ensure that our internal tools are effective, robust, and user friendly.

This also involves providing documentation and support to the development teams using these tools.
** ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
*** Architect and design embedded tooling solutions according to our team’s needs.
* Build tooling solutions in a timely fashion.
* Develop schematics, enclosure designs, and test scripts for embedded tools.
* Troubleshoot electrical embedded system designs using a combination of test equipment and software.
* Coordinate and collaborate well with other team members.
* Design and build solutions in conjunction with predetermined requirements analysis, but challenge and question potential gaps in analysis.
* Document key work, i.e., technical design, procedures, and new technologies.
* Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience.
* Travel up to 10% is required for this role.
** JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
** General Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Experience in embedded software/firmware development across full product life cycle.
* Experience with CAD design for 3D printing and metal fabrication.
* Strong Linux knowledge.
* Strong embedded system debugging skills.
* Expertise with Python is advantageous.
* Experience with electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
* Experience with Agile software development practices and continuous delivery.
* Experience with test driven development (TDD).
* Experience in startup environment and taking a project to market successfully.
* Proficient understanding of version control systems (git).
* Strong organizational and planning skills, mathematical (statistical) skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Comfort working under limited supervision and handling routine matters on your own initiative.
* Travel up to 10% is required for this role.
** Additional Experiences for special consideration:
*** Experience with the design and manufacturing of software for Digital Camera, DVR, Monitor, Telematic products.
* RTOS knowledge such as FreeRTOS and low-level microcontroller development.
* Experience with secure firmware updates/programming for IoT Devices is a plus.
* Experience with wireless modules (cellular LTE, WiFi, BLE, etc.) is a plus.
* Controller Area Network (CAN) knowledge (J1939/OBD-II) is a plus.
* Experience in hybrid cloud AWS technologies and Edge Linux development environment is a plus.
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
