We are seeking an Airport Planner
- Senior Consultant
with a Terminal/Facilities background to join Ricondo’s team of talented aviation consultants. This position would be based in Austin, Texas and would serve in a staff augmentation role to a current client. The successful candidate would have the opportunity to work directly for a client that is engaged in a multi‑billion‑dollar development program.

Ricondo team members are passionate about working alongside airport management to solve the complex issues facing the aviation industry. Our team provides strategic planning services to airports around the world, including operational and physical planning, master planning, environmental reviews, and business advisory services.

We are seeking a self‑motivated individual with an intellectual curiosity for technical challenges, strategic and independent thinking, and a desire to work in a team environment across multiple disciplines.

Position Summary

The Airport Planner
- Senior Consultant is responsible for performing initial concept development, planning, and implementation of aviation programs, projects, and studies under the supervision of senior staff. Qualified candidates will possess a degree in Architecture, Engineering, Planning, or a similar field.

Proficiency in documentation and presentation media is required for the candidate, including knowledge of planning software such as AutoCAD and Microsoft 365 tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). A knowledge of and comprehension of maps, floor plans, and schematics is necessary. Experience using CAST or similar modeling programs is strongly desired.

Core Responsibilities
  • Performs work in support of senior staff and project teams as required.
  • Provides input, technical assistance, and recommendations on airport planning studies.
  • Prepares draft sections of reports and deliverables based on verbal and written input from others.
  • Assists in developing, formatting, and publishing tables, charts, and maps that deal with existing and proposed airport planning studies.
  • Develops and maintains electronic data sets, files, and troubleshoots existing materials.
  • Capacity and requirements analysis of airport facilities, alternatives development, layout plans and graphics support.
  • Conducts field observations, investigations, and collects data in support of airport planning studies.
  • Consults with fellow employees and senior staff concerning the compilation and presentation of research data for airport planning studies.
  • Responds to requests for data and information from internal staff and external clients.
Requirements
  • Degree or certificate in a field that provides a strong foundation for independent problem solving and consulting, such as Engineering, Architecture, and/or Planning.
  • Exceptional verbal, interpersonal, and written communications skills.
  • 3 or more years of experience with increasing responsibility in a related field.
  • Intellectual curiosity to learn, self‑educate, and be comfortable working both independently and in a team environment on a variety of projects and tasks.
  • Possesses a familiarity with or desire to work in the aviation industry.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Proficient in a variety of analytical, production, and visualization software including but not limited to:
    AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch‑Up or other visualization software, and Microsoft 365 products including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Self‑motivated and ability to act towards achieving a particular goal; even when faced with obstacles or challenges. High‑level of self‑discipline and self‑awareness for their quality of work.
Additional Preferred Technical Skills
  • Prior office experience with an architecture, engineering, planning firm or similar is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of best practices, methods, and principles utilized in strategic planning, infrastructure and facilities planning, and operational research.
  • Visualization and rendering skills.
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques and related tools including statistical, spreadsheet, database, simulation, and spatial/graphical analysis applications.
