Project Engineer Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of seven years of experience supporting capital projects related to industrial utilities, such as ammonia refrigeration, boiler and steam systems, air compressors, and high-voltage power systems. This role requires the ability to travel up to 70% of the time and offers an exciting opportunity to work on state‑of‑the‑art projects in a stable and secure company environment.
ResponsibilitiesLead and manage capital projects ensuring proper specifications, optimal maintenance, and safe operation of utilities equipment.
Ensure regulatory compliance with all governmental agencies.
Provide guidance and expertise to project team members.
Support facility utility upgrades in plants.
Develop conservation strategies to maximize energy efficiencies through new and renovated utility installations.
Coordinate activities between corporate suppliers and outside contractors on capital projects.
Experience with ammonia refrigeration.
Capital project experience, particularly projects valued at $4 million or more.
Dairy, meat, food, beverage, or beer industry experience.
At least 2 years of utilities experience.
Strong communication skills to build relationships with plants, vendors, and design firms.
Skills & Qualifications
PSM certification.
OSHA 10
Hr certification.Experience with complex systems like ammonia refrigeration and co‑gen (Combined Heat and Power).
Familiarity with PSM‑covered systems like ammonia or large‑scale refrigeration.
Ammonia refrigeration design experience, with consideration for experience in large‑scale, high‑volume Freon refrigeration systems.
This role involves extensive travel to different work sites, collaborating with local teams to install new refrigeration systems. The position offers a hybrid work model with virtual collaboration when not on‑site. Expect to engage in 70% ammonia refrigeration‑related work, with additional responsibilities involving steam, cogen, compressors, and boilers. Travel occurs primarily on weekdays, with all travel expenses covered, including access to a private plane for certain trips.
This position provides exposure to significant capital expenditure projects, ranging from $500,000 to over $10 million.
This is a Permanent position based out of Austin, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90,000.00 – $ / yr.
