Design Assurance Project Manager

We are seeking a senior design assurance engineer to oversee the implementation and DO‑278A certification of mission‑essential web applications. This technical leader will guide a team of engineers to ensure that the product achieves certification through effective design, development, verification, and validation activities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead safety‑critical system design, development, decomposition, and tracking of safety‑critical system requirements from initial design to formal validation and verification per DO‑278A.
  • Lead identification of safety‑critical system interfaces and conduct Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA) allocations to define objectives for system safety.
  • Identify evidence supporting the achievement of DA levels identified in the FHA and map to Design Assurance objectives.
  • Provide Design Assurance Engineering Analysis and DA Reviews support.
  • Provide engineering services supporting Gap Analysis based on the final Program Requirements Document (fPRD), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), and other safety artifacts.
  • Develop DO‑278A Compliance Audit, compile a Development Assurance Compliance Report, deliver a synopsis of work performed and support integration.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in science, applied science, or engineering.
  • Five or more years of relevant professional work experience in a highly technical, safety‑critical, aviation‑related industry.
  • Five or more years of experience as a technical team leader responsible for the development and implementation of safety‑critical systems.
  • Understanding of software development processes according to RTCA DO‑178C, DO‑278A, and DO‑331.
  • Experience in identifying and addressing Design Assurance (DA) gaps.
  • Experience conducting Compliance Audits for DO‑278A.
  • Demonstrated ability to make security‑related architectural and implementation decisions for web applications throughout the stack.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Post‑graduate degree in systems engineering, engineering management, engineering mechanics, operations research, industrial engineering, or a related field.
  • Ten or more years of relevant professional work experience.
  • Specialized study, research, or work experience with software architecture, data engineering, real‑time data streams, TCP/IP networking, GNSS systems, and/or GNSS signal structure.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services (preferred), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Project Management Professional or equivalent DoD project management certification.
  • Experience participating in Agile project management using Jira or similar tools.
  • Work experience specific to GNSS observation and navigation data.
  • Immediate or previous eligibility for classified information.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Salary Range

$110,000–$140,000+ (negotiable based on qualifications)
