To provide technical and drafting skills in performing manual or computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) work. Responsible for compiling and organizing engineering and drafting data into usable form for the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL).
Responsibilities- Time management, organization, and prioritization for timely completion of project tasks.
- Work with other staff to achieve project goals and consistency of project documentation.
- Specification of detailed technical assembly procedure documentation for mechanical and electrical components.
- Assist designers and engineers with form-fit-function analysis. Knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing).
- Detailed modeling of mechanical and electrical components and assemblies. Creation and maintenance of library parts for use in assemblies and deliverable documentation.
- Drafting of project documentation, drawing packages, and engineer design documentation.
- Other related functions as assigned.
- HS/GED
- Three years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge in drafting and development of mechanical and electrical components using Solidworks computer-aided design (CAD) tools.
- Demonstrated capability using and applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate, and easily interpretable documentation, and to quickly and correctly implement corrections to existing documents.
- Critical thinking skills to produce clear and unambiguous documentation that conforms to ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Ability to work several overlapping projects with various engineering teams.
- Ability to work within an environment of rapidly changing priorities. Able to work under pressure, accept constructive criticism, and rapidly implement revisions with and without supervision.
- Work with other staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Regular and punctual attendance.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional demeanor, and work independently and as a team member.
- Associate's degree in Engineering and Computer Aided Design - Mechanical Specialization with 1 year related experience.
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
- Experience in mechanical design, specification, fabrication and testing of mechanical assemblies, cable harness assemblies, and electronic printed circuit card assemblies.
- Knowledge of manual milling, CNC milling and programming, general power tools, and the ability to inspect parts with calipers and micrometers.
- Experience writing technical instructions.
- Experience interfacing with vendors and machine shops to procure items.
