Position SummarySamsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking an Infra Reliability Engineer to lock in the 24×7x365 uptime required by our high stakes fabrication lines, preventing costly shutdowns and safeguarding revenue. By centralizing and standardizing reliability programs—FMEA, 8‑D root cause analysis, preventive maintenance, and KPI tracking—the role will raise MTBF, cut MTTR, and streamline spare parts inventory. The engineer will sharpen audit readiness, reduce compliance penalties, break down cross‑functional silos, and accelerate continuous improvement cycles, all while aligning SAS metrics with Samsung’s global HQ initiatives.
The combined impact of reduced downtime, higher yield, lower maintenance spend, and stronger quality assurance. Lastly, the engineer will coordinate with reliability experts at SAS and Headquarters (S. Korea) to lead benchmarking initiatives.
- Routinely correspond with reliability experts to lead benchmarking efforts from within SAS and with Headquarters (S. Korea).
- Standardize Equipment Management business and engineering processes across Infra Technology for joint efforts to continuously improve equipment uptime for FAB.
- Lead the implementation of Infra‑wide reliability programs for equipment owned by Infra Technology team.
- Drive the FMEA program across Infra to proactively identify equipment failures and continuously improve the system reliability through Reliability Centered Maintenance concepts. Use the FMEA system to spread effective countermeasures across teams and sites.
- Spearhead standardization of Infra equipment in terms of Equipment Management and Improvements from equipment‑related failures.
- Standardize, monitor and improve Infra‑wide Reliability KPIs (OEE, PM/BM ratio, MTBF, MTTF, and MTTR improvements) by closely working with individual departments’ Equipment Engineers.
- Standardize and continuously optimize Infra Maintenance Process (PM program) by implementing GEMS, FBL, and work‑order progression improvements.
- Support teams with failure analysis and 8‑D development and review for equipment‑related incidents with focus on root‑cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, etc.) and CAPA.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Engineering Specifications as and when needed to ensure reliability standards are met and improved.
- Assist in external audits and lead internal audit programs to ensure safety and reliability.
- Direct and provide oversight in reliability for technicians and junior engineers.
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field (Master’s in a technical field is a plus).
- 4 years of manufacturing experience driving reliability improvements.
- Basic understanding of semiconductor manufacturing.
- Reliability certifications such as Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMPR) or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) is a plus.

Total Reward
The current base salary range for this role is between $70,480 – $179,090. Individual base pay rates will depend on duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs based on performance, as well as MBO bonuses.
