In this role, the associate geologist will be responsible for overseeing several concurrent, subsurface geoscience projects, collaborating with other geologists and technical disciplines in order to develop oil and gas assets. Key responsibilities include planning and execution of horizontal and vertical wells, supervising subsurface operations, integrating data (well records, seismic, wireline log, core, etc), creating/presenting maps, and growing their skill sets within the geoscience discipline.
Responsibilities- Provide geoscience input during the full well life-cycle; planning, drilling, geosteering, completions, recompletions, production, and abandonment.
- Work closely with geoscience and engineering counterparts on drilling planning, frac designs, and drawdown strategies
- Provide analysis and support for non-op activity, recommendations, and decisions
- Evaluate and integrate competitor activity and results
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and networking
- Perform other duties as needed
- Periodic 24hr on call for operations
- Candidates should have some technical-communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and under supervision of more experienced teammates
- Work on cross-functional technical teams
- Interface with non-technical staff in a team setting; multi-disciplinary teamwork and communication is essential.
- Desire to grow their skills and grow in the geoscience discipline
- Previous internship or 1+ years working at an active E&P company
- MS degree in Geology/Geoscience or related field
- 1-5 years working at an active E&P company
- Direct geosteering and well planning experience
- Domestic travel to field locations
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
