Civil Engineer/Project Manager
Role Description: Huitt-Zollars' Austin office has a full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer and/or Project Manager to provide engineering design and/or project management for civil engineering projects in Central Texas. Huitt-Zollars is a leading Engineering and Architectural firm providing innovative planning, engineering, architectural and interior design, construction and program management. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
Duties:
- Produce quality civil engineering plans
- Design experience with paving, grading, roadways, water, wastewater, drainage, water quality and/or detention ponds
- Experience with preparing permit applications, reports, specifications, cost estimates
- Ability to use Civil 3D design software and/or Microstation/Open Roads, a plus but not required
- Knowledge of Microsoft software
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Must be highly organized and detail oriented
- Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely
- Willingness/ability to assume increased responsibilities when presented
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensures proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
- Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Leads successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client).
- Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects.
- Cultivates relationships with clients and holds strong relationships with clients.
- Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars' business process including weekly rhythm.
- Takes active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and may be responsible for a stated portion of office sales goal. Assists and/or leads team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ and Proposals). Develops and/or executes project Win strategy.
- Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
- Actively engages and participates in the training, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff.
- Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
- Texas PE registration or ability to obtain within 1 year
- Lead and manage the production of quality civil engineering plans (paving, grading, roadways, water, wastewater, drainage, water quality ponds, detention ponds)
- Prepare permit applications and obtain permits required for construction
- Produce engineering reports, specifications, and cost estimates
- Ability to work in a team and to manage multiple projects with limited supervision
- Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely
- Ability to train staff and review work for quality assurance
- Maintain successful client relationships
- Solid leadership and management skills, self-motivated, and possess a strong ability to meet deadlines, satisfy clients, and solve complex problems
- Develop project scopes, budgets, and manage execution and tracking of projects
- Manage the proposal process in the procurement of projects
- Ensure projects are completed within client specifications, budgets and schedules
- Ability to use Civil 3D design software and/or Microstation/Open Roads, a plus but not required
- Skilled with Microsoft software
