The Heavy Highway Project Engineer will perform a wide range of engineering, administrative, and project support functions. This role works closely with field operations and project management teams to assist with documentation, coordination, project closeouts, and cost tracking activities. This position is designed to provide broad exposure across engineering, project controls, and construction operations.
Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesEngineering:
- Perform material usage measurements and calculations
- Interpret drawings and specifications for crews
- Preparation and execution of work plans
- Compiling and confirming daily labor timekeeping
- Provide solutions related to construction operations
- Owner‑representative communication and coordination
- Track quantities and prepare reports
- Review and approval of payables
- Administrative duties as assigned
- Equipment data analysis
- Equipment scheduling needs & forecasting
- Identify equipment‑related risks and opportunities
- Prepare pre‑bid schedules
- Prepare baseline schedules
- Manage progress updates
- Interpretation of drawings and specifications
- Scheduling updates, look‑ahead scheduling, and subcontractor scheduling
- Change management and project controls functions
- Prepare time impact schedules
- Conduct internal basic scheduling training.
- Estimating document control
- Material and quantity takeoffs according to bid documents
- Identification of project risks and opportunities
Must have a valid Driver’s License, proficient with Microsoft Office products, have strong communication skills, excellent time management, and organizational skills.
Experience andEducation:
Degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Engineering, or Business degree from an accredited college or university or possess related field experience.
