Manufacturing Engineer, Safety Engineer
Description
The Safety, Guarding & Access Engineer will lead industrial safety-by-design efforts for our client, focusing on OSHA-aligned machine guarding, safe access, and risk reduction across hazardous interactions in manufacturing and field operations. This role is especially critical around system interactions like volumetric mixer refill operations, where movement and human proximity elevate safety risk.
Key Responsibilities- Own the machine guarding and safe-access strategy for equipment and workflows (factory + field environments).
- Design and specify guards, rails, covers, barriers, and access controls to protect operators and technicians near moving systems.
- Conduct safety risk assessments (e.g., hazard analysis / task-based risk reviews) and translate findings into engineering requirements.
- Partner with mechanical/electrical engineering, operations, and test teams to integrate safety early in the design process (DFMEA/PFMEA-style thinking).
- Develop/maintain documentation to support safe operation (guarding standards, inspection checklists, signage, safe work instructions).
- Lead investigations into safety events/near misses related to equipment interactions; implement corrective actions and design improvements.
- Support validation of guarding solutions in test/production environments (fit, access, maintenance, usability, reliability).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and operations teams.

AdditionalSkills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with robotic/automated equipment environments and human–machine interaction safety.
