AWS Infrastructure Services designs, plans, delivers, and operates AWS global infrastructure. As a Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide full life‑cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You will be the go‑to engineering resource for your region, using subject‑matter expertise to troubleshoot, conduct root cause analysis, support operational issues, develop conceptual designs for upgrades, interface with cross‑functional teams, lead engineering audits, and support construction projects.

• Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
• Provide operational issue support with ad‑hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including critical equipment, and event support.
• Own the conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add capacity, improve availability, increase efficiency, and enhance sustainability.
• Interface with internal data center operations, design engineering, server hardware, and environmental health and safety teams to promote consistent and reliable services.
• Develop innovative solutions for AWS data centers.
• Manage concurrent projects, sometimes across multiple geographical regions.
• Initiate and lead engineering audits with on‑site visits, produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediations.
• Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover.

• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission‑critical facilities, including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and reliable personal transportation by start date.
• Strong engineering judgement, ability to provide recommendations amid uncertainty.
• Excellent communication, writing skills, attention to detail, high‑quality standards.
• Leadership, problem‑solving, and data‑oriented skills.
• Experience solving problems with engineered solutions and managing engineering projects and consultants.
• Ability to build trust and relationships with stakeholders across operations, controls, construction, design, commissioning, and product management.
• Adaptability, field‑experience inclination, and enthusiasm for a mix of office and field work.

• Experience in data center engineering.

Base salary range: $ – $ USD annually (Austin, TX).
