EPE is looking to recruit an Associate Technical Director with a background in Modelling and Interconnection/Transmission Planning studies. We are ideally looking for a candidate with extensive experience in the MISO and SPP regions but would be open to candidates with strong backgrounds outside these markets. This role is ideal for a technical leader who thrives on solving hard problems, building trustedrelationshipsand driving outsized impact for both our clients and the industry.
ResponsibilitiesHow you can make an impact:
Leadership & Team Development- Lead, mentor, and empower a diverse team of engineers, fostering a culture of excellence,accountability and innovation.
- Demonstrate extreme ownershipbytaking responsibility for outcomes,decisionsandoverallteam success.
- Enhance internal capability by coaching staff on both technical and client-facing skills.
- Enhance delivery frameworks,QA/QC processes, anddrive cross collaborationtoensure the team scales effectively.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to generation,largeload and merchant transmission developers helping them navigate
MISO and SPP’sevolving interconnection landscape. - Translate complex technical issues into clear and actionable insights that accelerate client decision-makingand support project success.
- Leverage strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills to gather necessary input and make informed recommendations evenin situations where there is inherent ambiguity.
- Lead reviews of interconnection studies and identify creative pathways toremove roadblocks and expedite projects.
- Partner with senior leadership to shape and execute EPE’s growth strategy across
MISO, SPPand beyond. - Identify and pursuethe development of new services to address ourclientneeds.
- Lead proposal and RFPdevelopmentefforts.
- Contribute thought leadership through conferences, technical papers, and industry forums.
- Drive the development of internal toolsand analytics that strengthen EPE’sposition in the market.
Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:
Qualifications- Minimum8years of experience in the electric energy industry.
- Proven ability to connect the dots between technical deliverables, clientneedsand their commercial strategy.
- Exceptional communicator who can influence,createalignmentand make decisions confidently under uncertainty.
- Strong understanding ofMISO, SPPandUtility interconnection requirement sand regulatory frameworkforboth generation and load.
- Strong written and verbal communication andability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Direct experience working at an ISO or Utility in the Eastern Interconnector on behalf of these entities as a consultant would be highly valuable.
- Experience in I modelling and/or load modelling.
- Working knowledge of power system analysis software(e.g., PSS/E,TARAPSCAD, PSLF, orPower
World).
