** Summary*
* The Principal Power Engineer develops new electrical systems/circuits for various applications.  Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Test, simulate, validate and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing of the electrical systems they have designed.

The Senior Staff Power Engineer works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development.
Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.

** Detailed Description*
* Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

+ Work autonomously and take initiatives to manage team priorities

+ Provide technical guidance and support to Staff and Sr. engineers

+ Design, develop and implement technical solutions for complex projects. Participate in project planning and scheduling.

+ Propose innovative solutions for performance, reliability, and features of system or product.

+ Global SME with comprehensive knowledge and industry recognition. Provides technical leadership and direction to a global team of engineers.

+ Reviews and interprets customer specifications and may act as primary customer contact.

+ Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develop  and lead deployment strategies and plans.

+ Lead and manage schematic design, Bills of material, power tree, drawings, board layout, and cross-functional design reviews

+ Lead power bring-up, debugging, and support for manufacturing assembly, and deployment

+ Takes responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.)

+ Lead relationships with key vendors and partners.

+ Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations, and share within team

+ Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.

+ Analyze and create reports and documentation of specifications, design, testing, debugging, and etc.

+ May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas.

** Knowledge/Skills/Competencies*
* Refer to technical skills below

+ Considered a Subject Matter Expert in the area of power design, such as single/multi-phase DC/DC converter, point-of-load converter, LDO, MOSFETs, magnetics, hot-swap circuitry of how-swap controller, load switches, current sense circuit and amplifier, and etc

+ Experienced in designing power systems for networking, compute, or storage products

+ Experienced in high-current, low-voltage power subsystems for CPU, GPU, ASIC, SoC, and FPGA

+ Experienced in PCB stack-up, power planes, and tools used to simulate voltage gradients

+ Familiar with schematic capture and CAD layout tools or equivalent ones

+ Proficient with circuit simulation tools such as SIMPLIS, PSPICE, and LTSPICE, or equivalent tools

+ Experienced with end-to-end power delivery network design, and simulation using circuit simulation tools, Sigrity Power

DC/SI, ANSYS SIWave or equivalent, and board level correlation

+ Knowledge of high-density power modules and Vertical Power Delivery (Knowledge on Integrated Voltage Regulator (IVR) is a plus)

+ Experienced with power integrity evaluation

+ Experienced with design and troubleshooting of power management interfaces such as PMBus, AVS, SVID and SVI2/3.

+ Experienced with defining specifications and validation of power connectors, cable assemblies and fuses

+ Familiar with NPI hardware design and deployment cycle

+ Experienced with development of test automation for power validation that is a plus.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to present to various audiences effectively

** Physical Demands*
* + Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.

+ Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.

+ Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

+ Occasional travel may be required.

** Typical Experience*
* + 11+ years' releveant work experience with 3+ in a leadership capacity.

** Typical Education*
* Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
