Position OverviewEngineer in the Infrastructure Management Division, responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing construction, maintenance, and alteration of water and wastewater infrastructure. Works on capital improvement projects, cost estimating, contract coordination, and performance monitoring.
Duties & Responsibilities- Identify, evaluate, and recommend improvement designs and criteria for assigned projects.
- Assist in preparation of preliminary and long‑range plans, schedules, estimates, budgets, detailed plans and specifications.
- Develop cost estimates, feasibility studies, and engineering reports.
- Prepare contract documents, specifications, plans, and change orders.
- Coordinate and oversee contractor work, ensuring compliance with plans, specs, and regulations.
- Conduct field inspections to verify contractor performance and legal compliance.
- Perform statistical analysis and produce technical reports for various audiences.
- Develop standard operating procedures, policies, and ordinances for the discipline area.
- Monitor performance criteria for contracts and projects and recommend improvements.
- Strong foundation in civil engineering concepts, advanced mathematics, and engineering principles.
- Proficiency in water and wastewater infrastructure, project management, and cost estimating.
- Experience with engineering software, GIS, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and data analysis.
- Excellent written and oral communication, technical report preparation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to interpret maps, blueprints, and schematics and make decisions within established policies.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and four (4) years of engineering experience. Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas, or currently licensed in another state with ability to obtain Texas license within six months.
Preferred Experience- Project management and cross‑functional team facilitation.
- Assessment and management of water and wastewater infrastructure assets.
- Geographic information systems (GIS) and data visualization.
- Technical writing, presentation, and communication.
Location:
Waller Creek Center, Austin, TX 78701;
Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm with flexibility. Pay range: $85,120.00 – $ per year.
