Project Engineer (Natural Gas)
We are seeking a motivated and capable Engineer to support the development and execution of large‑scale and distributed generation natural gas projects. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to transformative projects, build practical skills, and advance your career.
What you will do- Support the planning, design, and execution of natural gas distributed generation, utility, and pipeline projects in collaboration with senior engineers and project managers.
- Prepare and manage complete construction plan sets for natural gas projects under the supervision of a licensed engineer.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams—including survey, construction, technical subject matter experts, permitting, and environmental—to support integrated project delivery.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, regulations, client standards, and industry practices.
- Deliver work in accordance with defined scope, schedule, quality, and technical requirements.
- QA/QC drawings and related deliverables for completeness, accuracy, and quality.
- Maintain organized project documentation, drawing revisions, and plan sets.
- Work closely with the design manager and project team to coordinate design efforts and document management.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and adjust priorities as needed.
- Work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Prepare construction documents, including plan and profile sheets, site plans, cross sections, and technical notes.
- Design pipeline systems based on client requirements, including routing, material selection, and structural integrity considerations.
- Perform feasibility studies, hydraulic modeling, and stress analysis to support system reliability and performance.
- Prepare technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and construction plans.
- Support installation, testing, and commissioning of pipelines and related facilities.
- Support compliance with applicable industry codes, including CFR 192, ASME B31.4, NFPA standards, and local requirements.
- Contribute to risk assessments and the design of corrosion protection, leak detection, and emergency response systems.
- Evaluate emerging technologies for pipeline monitoring, automation, and sustainability.
- Resolve design challenges with practical, efficient solutions.
- May remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Travel required:
less than 10%.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or a related engineering discipline.
- Two or more years of experience in natural gas design or related engineering work.
- FE exam completion preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and mathematical skills.
- Experience in pipeline design, construction, and maintenance.
- Experience with meter and pressure regulator and control valve sizing engineering and design.
- Knowledge of hazardous area classification analysis, HDD design, and stress analysis.
- Knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance practices.
- Proficiency with technical software used for design, simulation, and project management.
- Ability to prepare, read, and interpret construction plans and technical documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Bluebeam for document and design review.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong analytical skills, including development of key performance indicators, benchmarks, and related analysis.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate work appropriately.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD preferred.
- Self‑motivated and detail‑oriented, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment with standard office equipment.
- May be required to work onsite at a WSB office, as needed, up to five days per week, as required by the project, client, or hiring manager.
- Travel or field visits may be required to support project needs or stakeholder collaboration.
