Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Production Process Engineer to contribute to the process improvement and management of new assembly lines for our advanced cell manufacturing equipment for our cutting-edge Tesla Energy Batteries. The Battery is one of the most complex and challenging components designed and manufactured s is an exciting opportunity to build a world-class manufacturing facility from the ground up.
Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work on a critical subsystem of incredibly exciting products. They will have a successful track record with Lean Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, or Continuous Improvement with strong planning, project management, task management, and process improvement experience. This position will drive the Standard Work Program within the Cell Assembly Engineering, Operations and Maintenance Team.
What You'll Do
* Champion continuous improvement projects and standardization to support best in class lean manufacturing systems to maximize yield, capacity, and capability
* Lead the deployment of lean tools and methodologies such as 5S, Kaizen and Value Stream Mapping across Operations, Maintenance and Engineering
* Build a high-performing lean transformation culture, providing direction, mentorship, and support to ensure alignment with transformation objectives
* Integrate lean principles into the factory's safety programs, ensuring that all process improvements also enhance workplace safety
* Ensure lean execution drives results for customers and stakeholders, connecting results to the KPIs
* Bring lean expertise to operations and CI leaders, teaching & coaching local teams
* Develop and enable data-driven operational and financial decisions through predictive insights into tool and process performance, including the integration of factory data systems and use of software such as MySQL, Python, R, JMP, Tableau, and Ignition
* Conduct lean maturity assessments, & identify opportunities for improvement
What You'll Bring
* 5 years minimum leading/practicing operational excellence and lean manufacturing
* Preferred Master/Black Belt Certification
* Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physical Science or equivalent experience
* Deep experience implementing a lean manufacturing culture, tools, techniques, and organizational roles necessary for a Operational Excellence culture
* Preferred knowledge of MySQL, Python, R, JMP, Minitab, Tableau, and Ignition software
* Preferred Data collection and analysis experience in a high volume automated manufacturing environment
* Experience with ergonomic process design, part variation control, and human factors effects on product
* Ability to present and convey complex ideas to internal and external customers and stakeholders
* Ability to work under minimal supervision
