We invite you to bring your Air Quality and Business Development skills into play as you contribute to innovative and sustainable air quality solutions to help us grow our Houston business unit.
Your new roleAs our new Air Quality Principal, you will be part of the firm’s collaborative, inclusive, and creative Air Quality team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical and business leadership and contribute to innovative solutions in the commercial, manufacturing, government, energy, financial, insurance, and/or law sectors. In addition, the successful candidate must demonstrate an ability to generate and maintain a volume of business sufficient to support the growth of the firm.
Typically, successful applicants generate at least enough business to support 2-3 staff members.
This individual will have experience managing consulting assignments, must work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, is expected to be proficient in the analysis and communication of information, and must be able to work cooperatively with agencies, organizations, and individuals to guide decision-making. The successful candidate also is expected to be proficient in all facets of project management. They must demonstrate a commitment to mentoring and developing Associate and Manager level staff and collaboration with colleagues throughout the Practice.
Keytasks and responsibilities
- Identifying and pursuing business development opportunities;
- Managing projects, clients, and regulatory agency relations;
- Critically reviewing and interpreting local, state, and federal environmental regulations, compiling and drafting regulatory applicability determinations, and communicating findings, to co‑workers, clients, and regulatory agencies;
- Overseeing the preparation of comprehensive federal and state air permit application materials;
- Testifying at administrative and/or court hearings;
- Participating in local, national and international scientific and trade group meetings; and
- Conducting site visits.
As part of the Air Quality team, you will be part of a creative group, filled with people who are really excited about solving clients’ problems and creating sustainable solutions for them. You will work with all levels of technical expertise from entry level team members to members with decades of experience, many of whom are subject matter experts in their own fields.
You will engage in a continual learning environment through coaching, mentoring, and on the job tasks.
- B.S./M.S./Ph.D. degree in Engineering or Environmental Sciences, or related discipline;
- 15+ years of related air science experience, largely in a consulting environment;
- Demonstrated capabilities in understanding, interpreting, and applying environmental regulations to real-world situations;
- Understanding of air quality issues and agency-approved methods and guidance;
- Ability to externally manage client and regulatory agency relationships and internally manage staff and competing project priorities; and
- Demonstrated business development capabilities.

At Ramboll, we are committed to fair and transparent compensation practices that support our people and our purpose of creating sustainable societies. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $170,000 to $205,000 per year. This range reflects the compensation we reasonably expect to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity.
Because we operate across multiple U.S. markets, pay may differ depending on the cost of labor in specific locations. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports well‑being, professional development, and work‑life balance.
