Job Description

Position Information

TxDOT's Construction Division is looking for an experienced roadway inspector to work in our CST Training section. The Inspector Development Program teaches training courses, delivers workshops, and develops training materials for roadway inspection.

Compensation

Minimum Salary: 85,000.00

Maximum Salary: 95,000.00

Pay Basis:
Yearly. FLSA Status:
Nonexempt.

Job Overview

Oversees and coordinates the Construction Division (CST) education programs. Work involves providing technical and consultative assistance and support for agency staff regarding construction educational and training programs and ensuring program effectiveness and efficiency while achieving strategic objectives. Work may require contact with private or government entities and the public. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives.

Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.

Responsibilities
  • Identifies data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies by analyzing the content, structure, and
  • Develops evaluation strategies and tools to monitor program performance.
  • Trains and mentors less experienced inspectors on work methods.
  • Develops specialized construction-related training courses to be delivered in multiple formats.
  • Performs construction-related training at various locations and field sites; travels/drives as required.
  • Reviews construction industry developments and makes recommendations for application to agency's construction/maintenance/inspection or associated training programs.
  • Coordinates the planning and implementing of training on specific programs, including classes, seminars and conferences.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis OR related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 5 YEARS training or curriculum design, maintenance, construction inspection oversight, technical program management or mentorship and/or related technical related training (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent).

Licenses and

Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license at the time of application. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
  • Applicable inspection methods, procedures and techniques
  • Applicable testing methods, processes and procedures
  • Basic traffic management and control procedures
  • Applicable industry safety standards, guidelines, and specification codes
  • Communicating complex ideas and information clearly, concisely, and effectively
  • Using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems
  • Shows initiative and action beyond what is required to improve products or services; is self-starting and completes assignments independently without constant supervision
