Position Description

The Director of Project Development (ERCOT) will lead market intelligence, execute existing near‑term projects, drive additional pipeline growth, and drive project successes for utility‑scale solar and energy storage. The role requires deep knowledge of the ERCOT market, solar siting and land acquisition, transmission system analysis, permitting, interconnection, and wholesale/RTO operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with teams to develop and execute annual goals for existing projects and new siting.
  • Work daily with land and transmission teams to acquire new projects in ERCOT and process interconnection applications.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of permitting and guide projects through LGIA execution.
  • Evaluate transmission grids and land constraints, preparing comprehensive presentations for management on ideal sites.
  • Assist early‑stage interconnection team with applications.
  • Assemble project teams using Origis Tier 1 consultants to conduct risk analysis and execute permitting.
  • Manage PPA negotiations and handle customer relations during development.
  • Collaborate with investment, finance, and construction teams to ensure project success and profitability.
  • Oversee vendors and project budgets via SAP.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS/BA; MBA preferred.
  • 6‑10+ years of progressive development/solar‑finance experience.
  • Familiarity with development tools (solar resource, PV Syst, constrained layouts, interconnection, permit studies, financial modeling).
  • Broad knowledge of the full spectrum of solar development.
  • Experience assembling teams and leading development consultants.
  • Comfort in landowner negotiations.
  • Experience with interconnection from application through LGIA finalization.
  • Public presentation and third‑party development relationship experience.
  • Preparation of project critical‑path analyses.
  • Expertise reviewing and providing input to financial models.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. utility‑scale solar and energy‑storage markets.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
