Position: Engineering Drafter- Driving Required - Revit and Autodesk Revit - 12 mo contract $2

South Austin, Onsite and Field required. Salary $26–28 per hour. 1‑year contract role with possible extension. Standard 40‑hour work week, 7‑4 but may vary. Insurance benefits offered by Yoh Staffing.

Technical Skills – Must Have
  • A degree in computer‑aided design or a related field may be substituted per company guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with Autodesk and Autodesk Revit.
  • One or more years of experience interpreting technical drawings/documents and performing technical analysis or drafting using computer‑aided design software.
  • Point cloud manipulation.
Nice to Have
  • Autodesk Vault.
  • Blue Cielo Meridian.
  • Experience manipulating point cloud data (ReCap Pro, LiDAR, terrestrial scans, SUE scans, etc.).

This position is shifting toward a field‑first role with drafting as a supporting function.

The ideal candidate is someone early in their career, eager to learn, comfortable working outdoors, and interested in gaining hands‑on experience in the utilities environment.

Key Focus Areas
  • Participate in field visits to substations, power plants, and other utility sites.
  • Work alongside engineers and team members to gather field data and observations.
  • Remain comfortable working in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold.
  • Assist with as‑built updates and documentation based on field findings.
  • Support drafting efforts using CAD tools as needed.
What the Manager Is Looking For
  • 0 to 3 years of CAD or related experience; this role is not targeted toward highly specialized drafters.
  • Strong interest in field work and hands‑on learning.
  • Willingness to travel locally for site visits.
  • Positive attitude, adaptability, and eagerness to grow within the utilities space.
  • Preferred experience includes construction, field, or outdoor work.
Minimum Qualifications (Adjusted)
  • Basic experience interpreting technical drawings or exposure to CAD software.
  • A degree in CAD or a related field may substitute for experience per LCRA guidelines.
  • Valid driver’s license required for travel to job sites.
Technical Skills (Secondary Priority)
  • Familiarity with Autodesk or AutoCAD;
    Revit experience is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of drafting principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Key Responsibilities (Refocused)
  • Perform field observations and data collection with engineering teams.
  • Travel to various locations, including substations and power plants, to support project needs.
  • Prepare and update as‑built drawings based on field edits and site conditions.
  • Document field findings and translate them into accurate drawing updates.
  • Read and interpret engineering and construction drawings.
  • Support engineering research, data entry, and documentation.
  • Assist with preparation of drawings, reports, and other project‑related materials.
Work Environment
  • Combination of office work and outdoor field work at active utility sites.
  • Regular exposure to all weather conditions, including high Texas heat, cold, and sun exposure.
  • Field work may involve extended time outdoors.
  • This role requires candidates to be comfortable working outdoors; candidates seeking primarily office‑based or drafting‑only roles will not be a fit.
