Overview

We are seeking a Principal Robotics Engineer for the Mobile Robotics Software team. The role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining control algorithms for mobile robot navigation, manipulation, and case handling.

What you will do
  • Own design, development, and testing of control algorithms for mobile robot case handling tasks (navigation and manipulation).
  • Deliver robotic control software in a diverse team of roboticists and software engineers.
  • Expertise in sensor‑fusion estimation techniques and control algorithms for autonomous navigation and manipulation.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering and product teams on planning, design, and development of new and existing features.
  • Own quality, reliability and testability of the software codebase.
  • Troubleshoot system problems in production or design, investigating issues related to product performance or production difficulties.
  • Identify risks and provide solutions that lead to successful customer deliveries and improvements in system performance.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time; must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive or fly to client and other customer locations.
What you will need
  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Aerospace or related discipline.
  • 6+ years of demonstrated experience developing algorithms for mobile robot applications related to localization, manipulation and navigation.
  • Experience delivering robotics software products deployed in the real world.
  • Knowledge of C++ embedded coding and design patterns suitable for real‑time environments.
  • Knowledge of real‑time or embedded operating systems and threading and communication issues related to real‑time operating systems.
  • Experience with software process and version control tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain/teach technical concepts to others.
