Engineering Associate II- Driving - Austin, TX

Location:

Austin, Texas (South Austin). Onsite only.

Compensation: $40 per hour (not negotiable, W‑2). No C2C, no recruiters. Valid driver’s license required. Background check required.

Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM‑5:00 PM.

Under limited supervision of a licensed professional engineer, this associate‑level (Engineering Associate II) role focuses on electrical substation design and high‑voltage transmission system projects. The candidate will lead the development of scopes of work, create conceptual substation layouts and one‑line drawings using the AutoCAD design suite, collaborate with engineering and field personnel, and support cost estimating and design activities.

• Conduct engineering studies, computations, and cost estimates.
• Develop and draft technical reports, specifications, and schematics.
• Perform field analysis, inspections, and performance tests.
• Coordinate project reviews, implementation plans, and ensure timely communication.
• Assist less‑experienced engineers and guide craftsmen or technicians.
• Interpret engineering drawings and provide instructions to field personnel.
• Maintain knowledge of engineering principles and company systems.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, mathematical science, physical science, or a related field.
• At least one year of post‑bachelor’s engineering experience related to the specialization required to perform the job.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

• AutoCAD (incl. Civil 3D) proficiency.
• Bluebeam Revu.
• Microsoft Office 365.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and verbal/written communication skills.
• Knowledge of engineering principles, applicable laws, standards, and codes.
• Project management, budgeting, and cost‑estimation knowledge.

Work occurs in office, industrial, plant, construction, and field settings. Exposure to high‑voltage equipment, noise, extreme weather, heights up to 450 ft, high‑speed machinery, and confined spaces may occur. Physical demands include frequent hand/keyboard use, standing, walking, occasional climbing, and ladder work.
