When you join us, you’ll support a variety of transportation plans including multi‑modal corridor planning studies, feasibility studies, regional transportation plans, and other plans/programs. This is your opportunity to work on engaging plans, projects and programs. You will be part of a multi‑disciplined, highly skilled, and diverse team of planners, engineers, data scientists, GIS professionals, and environmental specialists leading projects locally and nationally.
This is an opportunity for motivated people to influence and provide leadership as part of the growing Jacobs’ transportation planning practice. Jacobs Planners have opportunities to grow their technical and project management expertise as they tackle complex transportation problems.
- Play key roles in the development of planning studies, stakeholder engagement plans, and planning deliverables for:
- multimodal transportation systems
- transit networks, facilities, and corridors
- active transportation networks, trails and paths
- sustainable transportation/traffic development
- emerging mobility and innovative technology
- local land use planning, as well as social and economic inclusion
- Prepare a range of transportation planning documents, including long range regional transportation plans, corridor plans, strategic planning, and environmental studies
- Prepare analysis, alternatives development and evaluation, and short‑and long‑range strategies supporting agency staff to deliver projects and programs
- Engage with clients, subconsultants, and stakeholders
- Support business development pursuits and help build client relationships
- Help build the transportation planning team
- Assist with Federal, State, and Local grant applications
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in planning, policy, engineering or related field
- 4‑10 years of experience in transportation and land use planning, analysis, and studies
- Experience in planning, land use, active transportation, transit, and/or multimodal corridors
- Project management and leadership experience as a planner, task manager or possibly a project manager on transportation planning projects
- Strong written and oral communication skills and a team‑oriented attitude
- Skilled in developing and delivering technical presentations to stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and/or the public
- Ability to actively participate in diverse teams and contribute to a secure and empowering work environment built on equity and inclusion
- Ability to effectively manage time to deliver tasks accurately and on schedule
- Advanced technical writing abilities
- Previous Metropolitan Planning Agency (MPO), Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). County, or Municipal transportation project experience
- Professional planning certification (AICP)
- Multi‑faceted experience including public sector project experience
- Experience facilitating discussions and presenting complex information
- Basic to advanced knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS applications (Pro and AGO), Adobe Creative Cloud applications, Microsoft Office and Project
- Experience with Reporting and Data Visualization Tools such as Tableau or Power BI
