Environmental Technician - Hazardous Building Materials

Overview

TRC is seeking an entry-level Environmental Technician to join our Houston, TX Office. This position would be working within our Building Sciences and Industrial Hygiene business within our Environmental Sector.

• Perform hazardous building material inspections for asbestos, lead-based paint, PCBs.
• Perform indoor air quality inspections, water intrusion investigation and mold.
• Perform project oversight and coordination with contractors.
• Operate and maintain instruments including sampling pumps, calibrators and other devices.
• Collect samples as required by various regulatory agencies, complete data sheets, chain of custody forms, and prepare samples for shipment to laboratory.
• Maintain daily logs of activities related to project work.
• Interact and communicate with clients, contractors and regulatory agencies.
• Read project specifications and drawings.
• Prepare reports.
• Travel throughout Texas is expected.

• 1–3 years of experience in the hazardous building materials, indoor air quality, industrial hygiene industry is preferred.
• High School Diploma required.
• Must be able to read project specifications and drawings.
• Prior experience in various aspects of abatement projects is a plus.
• One or more of the following licensed certifications are preferred: TDSHS Asbestos Inspector, TDSHS Asbestos Project Manager, TDSHS Asbestos Air Monitoring Technician.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Adaptability and flexibility to various work schedules and situations related to emergency response scenarios.
• Intuitive and creative thinker who understands the services being provided and offers solutions when needed.
• Work as a team player.
• Ability to carry and climb ladders and use hand and power tools.
• Be able to wear a respirator, safety harness and other safety equipment as needed.
• Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable means of transportation.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, physical and motor vehicle records check.

USD $20.00 - $28.84 per hour. Compensation may vary based on experience, education, skill level, geographic location, and other factors.
