Position DescriptionAugment professional Services (APS) is looking for a qualified Controls Engineer to join our factory infrastructure engineering team in Austin, TX. You will play a pivotal role in the design of complex manufacturing facilities. The role requires a highly organized mindset, a passion for driving multi‑disciplinary projects, and an unparalleled ability to consistently perform at a high level.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and implement control systems for utility and building systems that support all production facilities and infrastructure, including process utilities, HVAC, process systems, and building automation.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify problems or improvements, define control system requirements, and work out implementation strategies.
- Write and maintain detailed documentation of control systems, including schematics, diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues, including instrumentation and interlock wiring.
- Demonstrate ownership over assigned systems from design to operation and drive system improvements.
- Drive the development and implementation of energy efficiency, sustainability and reliability initiatives, pushing the boundaries to make the factory better every day.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with SIL systems and SIF calculations.
- Strong programming knowledge of PLCs and HMIs in Siemens TIA Portal and SCADA systems, preferably Ignition.
- Familiarity with industry standard control system protocols such as Profinet, Modbus, RS232/485, BACnet, and OPC UA.
- Strong experience with instrumentation selection, circuit design, panel design, and local industry codes.
- Strong knowledge of control systems, with control theory in continuous processes being preferable, and a solid understanding of sensors and their underlying working principles, including good knowledge of sensor setup, commissioning, and calibration.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex control system issues, plus strong communication and collaboration skills for working effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities and deadlines, combined with a desire to stay up to date with developments and best practices in control systems, and willingness to dive deep and drive developments to bring to the team.
