Substation Senior Structural Engineer

We are seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years of experience within the utility industry. The candidate will design and review steel and concrete structures; review substation structure design, rigid bus design, foundation design, oil spill containment, retaining walls, concrete and masonry control shelters, and fire‑walls. The role will support the development of bid and construction packages for substation projects, lead design reviews, and mentor junior staff.
Experience with seismic loading and industry codes is preferred. Site visits to client substation facilities and occasional travel for client meetings and industry events are expected.
The position requires compliance with quality control and safe work practices, and maintaining project scope, schedule, and budget expectations. This senior engineer will be a key member of a design team comprising engineers, designers, and drafting technicians.
Qualifications- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil‑Structural Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s (MS) with 3+ years of relevant experience
- PE License Preferred in California, Washington, Oregon or the ability to obtain licensure in these states within 3–12 months
- SE licensure is preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MATHCAD software, required
- Experience with STAAD.Pro, SAP
2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG
10, and LPile software, required - Familiarity with AutoCAD and Micro Station, required
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills
- Team player with ability to communicate with clients and staff
Preferred location is Portland, OR. If remote, the candidate would ideally reside in either Pacific or Mountain Time Zones.
