OverviewA leading employee-owned civil engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Project Manager, Roadway to join its growing Texas transportation team. This is a strategic leadership role focused on delivering complex, high-profile roadway and transportation infrastructure projects across public-sector clients.
This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of major DOT and municipal programs, lead multi-disciplinary teams, and play a key role in client development and business growth across the region.
The successful candidate will be a technically strong, commercially aware leader with a proven track record in delivering large-scale transportation projects and managing client relationships at a senior level.
Key Responsibilities- Lead delivery of multiple complex roadway and transportation projects simultaneously
- Act as primary client interface for key DOT and municipal accounts
- Oversee project scope, budget, schedule, and quality control across multi-disciplinary teams
- Provide strategic direction and leadership within the roadway group
- Mentor and develop Project Managers and emerging leaders
- Drive business development activity including proposals, pursuits, and client presentations
- Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic planning and workload forecasting
- Monitor project financial performance and ensure profitability targets are achieved
- Ensure compliance with AASHTO, DOT, and applicable engineering standards
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Contribute to performance reviews and broader team development initiatives
- Undertake additional duties as required
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 12 years+ of progressive experience in roadway and transportation engineering
- Demonstrated success managing large DOT or municipal infrastructure projects
- Strong leadership experience across multi-disciplinary, multi-office teams
- Proven ability to manage client relationships at senior/stakeholder level
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in project financial management
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
- Proficient in project management tools and Microsoft Office suite
