Job Summary
Structural engineer with strong technical skills, an interest in developing leadership skills, who works with more senior engineers on the preparation of engineering reports, specifications, and drawings of mid‑rise and high‑rise residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
ResponsibilitiesProject
- Executes the structural engineering tasks assigned or as otherwise directed by senior engineering staff
- Assists in development of structural drawings, Revit models and reports
- Assists project team in applying building code provisions and interpreting material design standards
- Maintains awareness of the production schedule for responsible task(s)
- Reviews completed tasks at key intervals for accuracy and completeness
- Performs administration tasks during the construction of a project as assigned by senior engineering staff, including submittal review and responses to field questions
- Assists in communicating with other disciplines and project team members to ensure overall project coordination
- Participates in team and company‑wide meetings to discuss project issues, coordination with other disciplines and technical issues
- Performs work in a manner that demonstrates an appreciation for the firm’s cultural values, including a commitment to quality, innovation, learning and respect for co‑workers and colleagues
- Becomes skilled in fostering and maintaining a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team
- Fosters awareness of the firm’s principles of providing outstanding professional service to our clients
- Demonstrates strong interest in sustainability in the construction industry
- Develops familiarity with project budgets and fees
- Develops understanding of the financial implications of overhead and chargeable time
- Fosters awareness of the importance of growing and maintaining client relationships and the basic concept of business development
- Accredited BS or MS degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering
- On the path to professional engineering licensure; EIT certification required
- 3-5 years experience
- Experience with Revit preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred
- Ability to evaluate structural systems and members using both calculator methods and structural analytical software
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing
- Ability to problem‑solve and collaborate on innovative solutions
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
- Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality

TravelSome travel to out‑of‑town projects or meetings may be required
