Your OpportunityStantec Buildings is seeking a Process Piping Designer to support the design and documentation of piping and process systems for industrial and process-driven building projects. This role will focus on developing 3D models, coordinated drawings, equipment layouts, sections, schedules, and detail sheets using Revit as the primary platform and AutoCAD Plant 3D as a secondary platform.
The ideal candidate is an experienced piping designer who can interpret P&IDs and construction specifications, route piping systems in a shared model environment, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and support project delivery under the direction of the design lead and/or engineer of record.
YourKey Responsibilities
Create 3D models of piping and process systems using Revit as the primary platform and AutoCAD Plant 3D as a secondary platform.
Design and document piping systems, including compressed air, cooling water, process waste, industrial water, gas and chemical piping systems, and process exhaust.
Review and interpret system P&IDs and construction specifications to route piping and lay out equipment according to project requirements.
Coordinate piping routing, equipment layout, and system space needs with other disciplines in a shared model environment.
Create 2D plan drawings, sections, schedules, and detail sheets using Revit and/or AutoCAD Plant 3D.
Attend project meetings with internal and external team members to gather design feedback and incorporate direction into project documentation.
Provide coordination feedback to other disciplines to support constructable, integrated design solutions.
Work closely with the project team and follow direction from the design lead and/or engineer of record.
Check the work of other designers or incorporate redlines as directed.
Support quality control, interdisciplinary coordination, and timely delivery of project documents.
Ability to design and lay out pressure and gravity-driven piping systems for industrial and process environments according to project specifications.
Demonstrated understanding of piping technology for multiple material types, including stainless steel, PVC, PVDF, and similar materials.
Demonstrated understanding of construction techniques and the ability to use that knowledge to design constructable systems.
Experience coordinating piping layouts with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and process disciplines.
Proficiency with Revit for model development and production documentation.
Experience with Navisworks, AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Plant 3D preferred.
Strong communication, organization, and coordination skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary project environment.
Some field experience as a pipefitter or construction detailer is highly valued.
Ability to obtain security clearance.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in piping design for process and/or mechanical systems in semiconductor, oil and gas, data centers, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, or similar industries.
Experience in process piping and utility design for related systems, such as gas and chemical systems, water/waste treatment systems, process exhaust, plumbing, and/or fire protection systems preferred.
Experience with space management and equipment layout preferred.
Experience with 2D and 3D platforms, including Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Plant 3D preferred.
