Do you enjoy working with stakeholders all over the state of Texas? If so, TxDOT's Aviation Division is looking for an Aviation Project Planner based in Austin, TX.

The Aviation Division maintains the fleet of aircraft used across the state, works with state and federal funding to support and improve over 300 airports, and provides air transportation for state business and emergency needs. This position is based at our state‑of‑the‑art headquarters in South Austin.

• Coordinates with airport sponsors and consultants to develop scopes, cost estimates, and schedules for planning projects.
• Develops and reviews project scopes, cost estimates, and schedules for airport layout plans, feasibility studies, and drainage studies.
• Participates in site visits and stakeholder meetings to assess airport development needs and ensure project feasibility.
• Reviews planning documents for compliance with FAA advisory circulars and TxDOT Aviation Division standards.
• Supports the development of Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and assists sponsors with aviation‑related project prioritization and funding strategies.
• Provides technical guidance on aviation planning standards, grant eligibility, and regulatory compliance.
• Tracks project milestones and ensures timely delivery of aviation planning deliverables.
• Educates sponsors and supports engagement on aviation planning processes, funding programs, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborates with engineering and environmental teams to align aviation planning efforts with project delivery.
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

2 years of experience in airport planning, project management, or a related field (full‑time or part‑time equivalent). Graduate‑level education may substitute for experience on a year‑per‑year basis.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
