Position Summary
Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a highly motivated engineer to fill the role of HVAC Facilities TL Thermal Engineer on the HVAC Engineering Team to support the Samsung Taylor Facilities Operations Group. The Engineer and their team will work to tackle complex problems, initiate improvement projects, review designs, and manage projects while overseeing day-to-day activities including breakdown maintenance and preventive maintenance to improve quality and reliability in support of a semiconductor wafer fab at the Taylor, TX Facility.
Responsibilities- Provides oversight and communication to support operations, instrumentation, maintenance, and external resources, ensuring operational sustainability of facilities and equipment.
- Reviews and analyzes process and equipment data to ensure they are running within specifications and that sufficient capacity is available to meet operating demand.
- Interfaces with internal customer organizations to sustain uninterrupted operations.
- Improves equipment reliability through FMEA, root cause analysis, and 8D problem solving.
- Supports development and improvement of operations and maintenance procedures/programs to ensure use of best practices.
- Incorporates best practices into site specifications, standards, and standard operating procedures.
- Forecasts costs and expenditures for operation and maintenance assigned systems.
- Develops cost reduction projects that reduce operating and maintenance expenses of those systems.
- Mentors junior engineers to facilitate career development and technical expertise.
- Manages and sustains safety, quality of operation, and environmental stewardship of systems.
- Implements processes and procedures to improve and standardize work across the team and site.
- Provides industry contributions through conferences and professional organizations.
- Supports testing and implementation of innovative new technologies to solve business needs and improve operation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in plant operations, reliability engineering, or design engineering.
- Experience with HVAC systems such as cooling towers, condenser water, chilled water, steam/condensate, hot water, and air conditioning units.
- Ability to conduct FMEA, root cause analysis, and 8D problem solving.
- Strong communication and mentoring skills.
Base salary range: $76,000 - $145,000, depending on duties, location, education, skills, and experience. Total compensation may include a competitive benefits package and participation in incentive programs.
