AMD is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to play a key role in the development and commercialization of advanced package technologies. In this position, you will lead mechanical engineering activities that enable new product introductions and next-generation packaging solutions from concept through production.
You will work closely with package design, thermal, reliability, manufacturing, and supplier teams to develop innovative mechanical solutions, support product qualification, and drive successful production ramps. This role offers the opportunity to influence future packaging technologies while collaborating with global engineering teams and manufacturing partners across the semiconductor ecosystem.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated mechanical engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and driving products from development into high-volume manufacturing. You are hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing technical depth with cross-functional collaboration.
Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, a passion for innovation, and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate takes ownership, communicates effectively, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where continuous learning and improvement are valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the mechanical SME for advanced packaging technology development and NPI programs.
- Lead mechanical development activities from concept through qualification and production ramp.
- Design and optimize tooling, fixtures, test hardware, and manufacturing solutions using Solid Works.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support package development, reliability, and production readiness.
- Support OSAT partners with process development, qualification, yield improvement, and manufacturing activities.
- Investigate mechanical and assembly issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions.
- Contribute to new packaging technologies, materials, and engineering solutions while supporting product lifecycle activities.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in mechanical engineering within semiconductor, electronics, advanced packaging, or high-tech manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in Solid Works for 3D design, assemblies, and engineering documentation.
- Experience with tooling, fixture design, FEA, warpage analysis, structural simulation, or thermo-mechanical modeling.
- Familiarity with NPI, qualification, manufacturing, and production support activities.
- Experience working with OSAT partners and global manufacturing suppliers.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively across global, cross-functional engineering teams.
Academic Credentials:
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Advanced degree in a relevant engineering field is a plus.
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
