Sr. GPU/Accelerator Hardware Development Engineer, Annapurna Labs

We are looking for experienced Lead System Design Engineers to build the next generation of our cloud server infrastructure for AWS Project Rainer. This opportunity involves leading bleeding‑edge hardware development projects for the Trainium platform, contributing to a massive AI infrastructure initiative that uses custom Trainium2 chips for training and running large AI models.

Responsibilities
  • Design, validate, and integrate hardware across the full AWS fleet life cycle.
  • Lead system architecture and optimization for data center deployments.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with monitoring, hardware design, firmware, and software teams to improve product quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Drive component selection, mechanical integration, and validation for electrical, mechanical, and cabling components.
  • Analyze root causes of hardware issues during validation and production, and drive corrective actions.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently within fast‑paced, startup‑like environments, meeting high standards for cost, quality, and time‑to‑market.
Basic Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with high‑speed system design and validation.
  • Proficiency with schematic and layout tools.
  • Knowledge of electrical fundamentals, power and signal integrity, analog/digital circuits.
  • Experience driving ODM hardware development, testing, and production flow.
  • Hands‑on use of lab equipment (bench power supplies, high‑speed oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, thermal chambers).
  • Experience with supply chain management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Lead end‑to‑end server hardware development lifecycle from concept through production.
  • Drive PCB and server motherboard design for accelerator carrier and high‑speed interconnect boards.
  • Collaborate with silicon, firmware, and system software teams for optimal hardware/software co‑design.
  • Improve compute density, power efficiency, and network bandwidth utilization.
  • Drive root cause analysis for hardware issues during validation and production.
