Mechanical Engineer
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading mechanical design and integration for complex hardware platforms from concept through production release. This role owns key mechanical deliverables, drives issue resolution, and ensures designs meet performance, quality, cost, manufacturability, and serviceability requirements.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Leading mechanical design activities for enclosures, chassis, structural elements, cable routing, and related assemblies across development phases.
- Owning critical mechanical deliverables including design proposals, tolerance analysis, structural studies, drawing completeness, and release readiness.
- Driving mechanical issue investigation and root cause analysis during prototype builds, validation, and manufacturing ramp.
- Providing technical leadership in design reviews and ensuring alignment of mechanical solutions with system architecture, thermal needs, and customer requirements.
- Partnering with suppliers, operations, and manufacturing teams to improve design for manufacturability, quality, cost, and schedule performance.
- Supporting packaging, reliability, and physical integration concerns and driving closure of cross-functional product risks.
- Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to method development, reuse strategies, and engineering best practices within the mechanical function.
- Communicating technical decisions, tradeoffs, risks, and status clearly to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Job qualifications:
Education & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field;
Master's degree preferred. - 5–10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and development of electronics or complex hardware products.
- Strong expertise in CAD, tolerance analysis, structural investigation, and release management for mechanical components and assemblies.
- Experience working with manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to deliver products into production.
- Familiarity with server, storage, networking, or rack-level hardware platforms is required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and proven ability to lead technical execution in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence project direction through technical leadership.
