Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities
- Own the design and engineering lifecycle of complex mechanical assemblies, systems, and specialized tooling.
- Perform detailed engineering analyses using foundational hand calculations and advanced computational modeling (FEA/CFD).
- Generate comprehensive engineering documentation, including 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings per ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Lead cross-functional design reviews, incorporating feedback from various teams.
- Drive the selection and qualification of COTS components, materials, and fabrication methods to optimize designs.
- Collaborate with other engineers to develop effective designs meeting functional and performance requirements.
- Work closely with Prototype Technicians and Manufacturing teams to troubleshoot assembly issues.
- Develop and execute rigorous verification and validation plans to ensure designs meet all requirements.
- Identify risks and drive mitigation strategies using tools like FMEA.
- Provide hands-on support for field deployment and root cause analysis of mechanical failures.
- Manage and control engineering documentation within the PDM/PLM system.
- Review and check drawings created by other team members for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the company's goals and objectives.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Solid Works and mechanical design.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5+ years of experience in hands-on mechanical design or product development roles.
- Experience with robotics, automation, heavy equipment, or large machinery.
- Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T).
- Knowledge of FEA and thermal analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience designing, integrating, and troubleshooting fluid/hydraulic systems.
- Experience designing hardware for harsh outdoor environments.
- Experience with FEA is a plus.
Work Environment
Work onsite from 8 AM to 5 PM with overtime flexibility required. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
