Position Summary
Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our Facilities Engineering Team. In this role you will tackle complex engineering challenges, lead improvement projects, review system designs, and manage critical projects on Exhaust and Process Systems. You will also oversee daily operations and maintenance to enhance system quality, reliability, and efficiency, directly supporting the high‑precision operations of a semiconductor wafer fab.
- Develop, mentor, and influence a team of 5+ engineers and project managers, fostering a collaborative and safety‑conscious work environment.
- Promote a process safety mindset and ensure compliance with site air permits, driving abatement efficiencies to meet world‑class standards. Oversee equipment quality to meet fab production requirements.
- Oversee project development and execution within the exhaust systems scope, including engineering design, cost estimating, financial management, and system documentation.
- Provide day‑to‑day support for operational, maintenance, and engineering issues within Facilities Operations Maintenance (FOM). Monitor and address quality and capacity concerns across systems. Seek out innovative concepts/technologies to improve system and operational efficiency.
- Forecast system capacity needs based on current and future demand projections, and develop plans to accommodate these needs through capital improvement projects.
- Lead root cause analysis and coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams to contain and correct problems. Lead Task Force Teams (TFT) to solve critical inter‑departmental problems or initiatives.
- Implement processes and procedures to improve and standardize work across the team and site.
- Contribute to the industry through professional organizations and conferences, sharing insights and best practices.
- Work schedule:
1st shift, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience.
- Previous experience in plant operations, reliability engineering, or design engineering.
The current base salary range for this role is between $76,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
