Overview
AWS Infrastructure Services designs, plans, delivers, and operates AWS global infrastructure. We maintain data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling to ensure continual access to our cloud services. We work on challenging problems with complex factors affecting the supply chain and are looking for talented people to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Responsibilities- Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
- Review design documents, lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and manage third‑party commissioning vendors for onsite pre‑functional, functional, and integrated systems testing.
- Own project outcomes by diving deep to resolve technical issues and addressing schedule and coordination demands onsite.
- Communicate lessons learned and collaborate on program improvements.
- Provide multi‑discipline input into scheduling, test script development, design, and project planning.
- Review component submittal packages, lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and perform system and integrated system testing.
- Audit activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements; prepare comprehensive weekly status reports.
- Coordinate across AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams to prioritize tasks and resolve issues.
- Escalate project turnover risks to appropriate stakeholders and share lessons learned to drive program improvements.
- 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning experience with electrical and mechanical systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or 5 years of relevant discipline experience.
- High technical competency in mechanical, electrical, or control systems used in critical infrastructures, with ability to learn other areas.
- Ability to review design documentation (drawings, specifications, submittals, sequences of operations) and provide feedback per Amazon standards.
- Experience developing or reviewing commissioning documentation such as test plans, scripts, and reports to ensure alignment with design requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
SharePoint or similar tools highly valued. - Strong communication, detail orientation, organizational skills, and ability to operate under high stress with cross‑team collaboration.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures.
- Ability to read and edit construction documents (design drawings, control diagrams, specifications, etc.).
- Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems based on design intent and approved submittals.
- Walk job sites on uneven terrain and work at heights or from ladders.
- Regularly walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift up to 49 pounds and participate in group lifts for heavier objects.
- Work shifts longer than eight hours, including nights and weekends; perform physical tasks throughout the day.
- Manipulate small wires and objects; work in noisy environments and in climates outside a normal office setting.
- Travel up to 80% domestically and internationally; personal transportation for off‑site meetings is required and reimbursed.
