Job Description & How to Apply Below
We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to develop the embedded electronics that power our next-generation autonomous robotic systems. This role combines electrical design, PCB development, embedded firmware, and system integration, with responsibility for designing reliable hardware and real-time software that meet demanding military-grade performance requirements. Working closely with mechanical and software engineers, you will develop power electronics, embedded control systems, and PCB designs while supporting hardware bring-up, validation, and optimization from concept through production.
Responsibilities:
- Design electrical schematics and multi-layer PCBs for embedded control, power management, motor drives, and sensor interfaces.
- Develop embedded software in C++ and Python for real-time robotic control.
- Perform circuit simulation, signal integrity, thermal, and EMC analysis to optimize design performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical, mechanical, and software systems.
- Lead PCB development using Altium Designer, OrCAD, or Eagle, following best practices for manufacturability and reliability.
- Support hardware bring-up, testing, debugging, and validation in both laboratory and field environments.
- Optimize hardware and firmware for performance, power consumption, and system reliability.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including schematics, layouts, test procedures, and design revisions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience designing microcontroller-based embedded systems, including power conversion and motor control.
- Proficiency with Altium Designer, OrCAD, Eagle, or similar PCB design tools.
- Experience using simulation tools such as SPICE or ANSYS Electronics.
- Strong understanding of electromechanical system integration, including sensors, actuators, and motors.
- Hands-on experience with hardware testing, validation, and debugging using standard lab equipment.
- Strong embedded software development skills in C++, with Python for scripting and automation.
- Experience developing software for real-time robotic or autonomous systems.
- Familiarity integrating embedded software with sensors, actuators, and control hardware.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with thermal management for high-power electronics.
- Familiarity with Embedded Linux and RTOS environments.
- Knowledge of communication protocols including CAN, UART, I²C, TCP/IP, and UDP.
- Experience optimizing low-latency, high-performance embedded systems with strict power and computational constraints.
