Senior Product Design Mechanical Engineer

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is hiring a Senior Product Design Mechanical Engineer for its Electrical Products and Services Engineering team. The role focuses on designing and developing resilient, cost‑effective electrical distribution products and systems for AWS data centers.

• Work with internal partner teams to solicit customer input and define design requirements.
• Lead new product design, development, and qualification of critical electrical power distribution equipment for AWS data centers, including low‑ and medium‑voltage switch gear, power distribution cabinets, and panels.
• Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC, and federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries through appropriate testing.
• Validate designs through prototype, pre‑production, and first‑of‑kind builds; conduct DFx and value‑engineering analysis throughout each step and update designs and documentation accordingly.
• Collaborate with field engineering and commissioning teams to test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products.
• Provide support for manufacturing activities for new products across multiple geographic locations.
• Lead the product development team and internal/external teams that support the data center.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience leading new product design, development, testing, and manufacturing support of electronic components.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
• Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations for the region.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
• Professional Engineering or Architectural License (preferred).

• Travel up to 30% domestic and occasional international travel may be required.
• Strong team‑work and communication skills; ability to work with internal and external partners.
