Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers by providing technical guidance, managing project priorities, and supporting career growth within a collaborative, matrixed organization.
- Remain actively involved in hardware development through schematic design, PCB layout, and technical design reviews, ensuring high standards of quality, performance, and reliability.
- Drive the architecture and development of electrical subsystems, including power electronics, motor control, embedded computing, networking, and supporting electronics.
- Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, systems, and software engineering teams to ensure seamless integration across all hardware and software interfaces.
- Establish and maintain engineering best practices, including design reviews, documentation standards, risk assessment, and verification processes.
- Partner with manufacturing and operations teams to communicate design intent, support product builds, resolve production issues, and improve manufacturability.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the product lifecycle, from early concept and prototyping through validation, production, and deployment.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (Master's degree is a plus).
- 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering, including experience managing and mentoring electrical engineering teams in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with schematic capture and PCB layout, with the ability to remain technically engaged while leading a team.
- Deep technical expertise in power electronics, motor control, embedded computing platforms, digital interfaces, and networking technologies.
- Demonstrated experience making architecture and design decisions while balancing technical trade-offs, schedules, and product requirements.
- Proven success collaborating within matrix organizations and working effectively across mechanical, firmware, systems, manufacturing, and program management teams.
- Experience coaching engineers through technical reviews, problem-solving, and career development while promoting engineering excellence and collaboration.
Candidates with the following experience will be highly valued:
- Experience developing electronics for robotics, autonomous systems, defense, aerospace, or other high-reliability embedded hardware applications.
- Proficiency with Altium Designer or comparable electronic design automation (EDA) tools for schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Experience leading hardware programs from prototype development through qualification, manufacturing, and field deployment.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD, MIL-SPEC, or other environmental and reliability standards for ruggedized electronic systems.
- Experience building scalable engineering processes and leading multidisciplinary hardware development programs.
