Signal Integrity Field Applications Engineer / Marketing Manager

Location:

San Jose, CA or Austin, TX

Compensation: $150K-$180K + 25% bonus and benefits

SI-FAE/Marketing Manager:

Supports all USA regional sales, mechanical FAEs, and global marketing/engineering efforts with application solutions related to high-speed signaling and signal integrity.

Primary company interface with USA customers concerning SI technical discussions. Meets with customers to understand their SI requirements and concerns. Presents products, test reports, and simulations to customers. Creates test methods/plans and preliminary product specifications that address the customer's requirements and concerns leading to a design win. (Meetings can be at the customer site, during trade shows, via video, web conferencing, etc.)

Work with the company's engineering team to optimize designs, create new product designs, and support customer applications. Support the company's research, development, and marketing efforts by helping to identify future industry requirements for connectors/harnesses that pertain to high frequency, high data rate, and EMI applications.

Lead the company's research, development, and marketing efforts through participation in, and reporting on, various electronics industry standards group activities, such as IEEE, PCI-SIG, VESA, USB-IF, MIPI, and OIF.

Network with trade groups, standards committees, and industry leaders (major chipset and consumer electronics customers) to provide input into the product development and business opportunities.

Monitor working groups, and gather knowledge regarding technical roadmaps, compliance specifications, and the development of industry standards. Create and maintain a library of industry standards and specifications documents.

Act as a technical representative to attend trade symposiums and events. Perform support functions like manning the exhibit booth, attending technical seminars, and studying other participants' products and market strategies.

Create and maintain a library of SI documents including test reports, simulations, white papers, other technical reports that Sales can easily access to promote our products. Work directly with Engineering to efficiently provide the required technical data.

Write technical papers and contents to illustrate and promote our products' SI performance. Present papers at trade shows, events, and industry meetings when possible.

Provide Sales with SI training. Individual salespeople are not expected to have a high level of SI knowledge, but they do need a basic understanding of key SI terms, definitions, and how design considerations impact performance.

Coordinate with complementary product companies, such as wire suppliers, FPC suppliers, assembly manufacturers, and others, to identify new products and technologies that could lead to novel and improved solutions that we could offer to our customers.

Skills Required:

At least 3-5 years of experience in the consumer electronics, enterprise computing, or high-speed datacom industry

Experience using ANSYS HFSS or another 3D FEM solver

Keen understanding of signal integrity concepts, such as S-parameters, jitter, crosstalk, power supply noise, ground bounce, ringing, reflections, etc.

Strong signal integrity analytical abilities to identify issues with high-speed connectors, components, and cable assemblies

Experience with high-speed lab equipment, such as vector network analyzers, bit error rate testers, and time-domain reflectometers

Experience with high-speed signals up to 224 Gbps

Experience with high-speed signals up to 448 Gbps is a plus

Familiarity with common industry specs (e.g. IEEE 802.3) and figures of merit, such as COM

Direct customer experience in a technical selling environment preferred

Knowledge of CST Microwave Studio, Keysight ADS, and other SI tools is a plus

Experience with high-speed PCB design is a plus

Experience with Python or C# software development is a plus
