Position Information

TxDOT's Austin District Portfolio Office is looking for Transportation Engineer II, III, or IV positions located at the District Headquarters
. This position will involve active roadway design and project management for internally developed and consultant managed projects. Some of these projects will consist of complex urban and rural safety improvement projects, infrastructure, and mobility projects, as well as innovative intersection improvements, main lane widening, retaining wall design, freeway ramp reversals, bridge replacements and complex drainage projects.

The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position based on the applicant's work experience, education, skill level and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.

Salary Plan/Grade:

Transportation Engineer II B25, ($82,000 - $114,099/Annual)
Transportation Engineer III B26, ($76,530 - $129,430/Annual)
Transportation Engineer IV B27, ($84,182 - $125,000/Annual)

Minimum Salary

82,000.00

This position performs complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

The

essential duties for a Transportation Engineer II, III, & IV include:

Negotiates fees, explains scope of work and monitors consultant design contracts.

Performs complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.

Develops and reviews engineering related documents, correspondence, reports and remediation plans.

Drives/travels to project/work locations to make on-site engineering reviews, analyses, tests and to provide technical support.

Monitors consultants' progress and work quality; checks invoices and associated documents; prepares supplemental agreements.

Reviews and revises schematics, PS&E, project designs, shop drawings and field changes for traffic control devices, signals, signs, markings, detours, traffic control plans, electrical…
