We are looking for a Transportation Design Lead to support our Texas market. The position can be based in any of our TX offices in Houston, Austin or San Antonio.
The Impact You’ll Make As the Transportation Design Lead for Texas, reporting to the U.S. South Central Regional Manager, you will lead the performance and growth of the Texas transportation design team. This role leads client service, business development, and project delivery in the Texas market, with a strong emphasis on building relationships and securing work with Texas agencies at the local, regional, and state levels (including TxDOT, MPOs, cities, counties, and regional authorities).
You will oversee design staff, manage resources and budgets, provide technical and project oversight, support go/no-go decisions on pursuits, and support the region’s growth strategy by developing and implementing business plans.
Project Management, Design Oversight, and Staff Management Be capable of analyzing all technical aspects of roadway/highway engineering, identifying issues and applying suitable solutions, analyzing complex design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures, and recommending major design changes.
Review construction plans, design calculations, specifications, cost estimates to ensure completeness, accuracy, constructability, and conformity to local standards or best engineering practices.
Have strong report writing skills and be responsible for preparing project reports and feasibility studies.
Have the ability to lead meetings and interface with Egis’s clients.
Have experience in developing project schedules, scope and budget, as well as have other fundamental project management responsible for the quality assurance and quality control through the development and review of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Have excellent leadership potential and soft skills, and the ability to work well with staff at all levels.
Marketing and Business Development Help develop the civil transportation vision and support business plans to drive the region's growth, leveraging a strong understanding of the Texas marketplace, competitive landscape, and opportunities with local, regional, and state agencies (TxDOT, MPOs, cities, counties, and regional authorities).Work closely with Marketing Manager on development and implementation of marketing and growth strategies focused on Texas agencies at the local, regional, and state levels.
Enforce application of marketing best practices and ensure the office is actively working toward meeting business plan goals and objectives. Stay apprised of key / strategic opportunities, make go/no-go decisions on pursuits, and ensure pursuit team compliance with client management, pre-positioning, go/no-go, and pursuit strategy best practices and company guidelines.
Represent the firm at client meetings, industry events, and other business functions with a priority on Texas agencies (TxDOT districts and divisions, metropolitan planning organizations, cities, counties, and regional transportation authorities). Develop relationships with key client decision-makers and leaders from teaming partner firms; take active leadership roles in professional organizations.
