What You'll Be Doing Job Scope:

The Data Center Commissioning Agent is responsible for leading and coordinating commissioning activities for large-scale, mission-critical data center projects. This position will oversee commissioning activities from planning and construction through testing, startup, integrated systems testing, closeout, and final turnover.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with hyperscale or mission-critical data centers and a strong background in MEP systems, commissioning, construction coordination, and field leadership. This individual will work closely with owners, general contractors, design teams, subcontractors, trade partners, and other project stakeholders to ensure MEP systems are installed, tested, commissioned, and turned over in accordance with project requirements.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Lead and coordinate Level 0–5 commissioning activities across the full MEP/site scope.

Manage commissioning activities from project planning and construction through functional testing, integrated systems testing, and final turnover.

Develop, manage, and maintain MEP commissioning schedules, milestones, and deliverables.

Coordinate commissioning activities with the overall construction schedule and site logistics.

Work closely with the owner, general contractor, design team, subcontractors, and trade partners to achieve project milestones.

Manage and coordinate subcontractors and trade partners supporting MEP installation, testing, and commissioning.

Participate in inspections, quality control activities, system readiness reviews, and commissioning meetings.

Review MEP submittals, drawings, specifications, RFIs, and other project documentation.

Develop, track, review, and execute MOPs (Method of Procedure) and commissioning-related procedures.

Coordinate QA/QC activities and ensure deficiencies are documented, tracked, and resolved.

Track CFCI/OFCI equipment and materials through installation, testing, and turnover.

Coordinate asset tagging and equipment documentation.

Manage commissioning documentation, test records, punch lists, deficiency logs, and turnover packages.

Support startup, testing, and commissioning of HVAC, chilled water, electrical infrastructure, and other critical MEP systems.

Identify potential commissioning, construction, schedule, and system-related issues and coordinate corrective actions.

Monitor project progress and communicate risks, schedule impacts, and commissioning readiness to project stakeholders.

Coordinate closeout activities and final turnover of MEP systems to the owner.

Ensure commissioning activities are completed in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and owner expectations.

Support the successful delivery of complex data center projects measured in megawatts and large square footage.

Maintain strong communication and collaboration between the owner, GC, design team, commissioning team, and field personnel.

Ideal Background

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent education and extensive relevant industry experience may be considered.

Registration:

Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), CxA, or other relevant commissioning or industry certification is preferred but not required.

Experience:

Minimum of 8 years of MEP and/or data center commissioning experience.

Demonstrated experience working on hyperscale, mission-critical, or large-scale data center projects.

Experience leading or managing the full MEP/site scope of a project.

Experience with ground-up data center construction.

Experience with data center fit-outs, expansions, renovations, or upgrades.

Demonstrated experience with Level 0–5 commissioning.

Experience managing large projects measured in MW and significant square footage.

Experience working directly for or alongside large General Contractors.

Strong experience with HVAC and mechanical systems.

Demonstrated experience with chilled water systems.

Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure and critical power systems.

Experience coordinating MEP construction, commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover activities.

Experience managing subcontractors, trade partners, and multiple project stakeholders.

Experience with MOP development, tracking, and execution.

Experience with QA/QC, inspections, submittal review, RFI review, deficiency tracking, closeout, and turnover.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong knowledge of MEP systems and data center commissioning processes.

Strong understanding of HVAC, chilled water, mechanical, and electrical infrastructure.

Knowledge of Level 0–5 commissioning methodologies and testing requirements.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation.
