Dell Technologies is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Fixed Architecture Team, where innovation meets leadership. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who thrives on solving complex challenges, guiding high-performing teams, and shaping the future of desktop computing.

What you’ll achieve

As a Senior Principal Mechanical Systems Architect, you’ll lead the mechanical architecture and technical strategy for next-generation desktop platforms while guiding engineering teams through all phases of product development. You’ll drive advanced investigations, technology assessments, and prototype development, ensuring alignment with product architecture, business objectives, and long-term platform strategy.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders and engineering teams to identify and resolve technical risks, maintain clear paths to productization, and deliver high-performance, reliable, and cost-effective solutions across Dell’s commercial and consumer line of business for mini PC and AI PC portfolio. You will also leverage data, dashboards, and engineering insights to improve development predictability, product performance, and execution efficiency, helping drive innovation and successful product outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will:
  • Architect and validate mechanical designs that balance structure rigidity, thermal, cost and reliability
  • Serve as the primary technical authority in cross-functional forums, influencing product strategy and design direction
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team
  • Mentor and develop engineering talent, providing technical guidance and career development support

Essential Requirements
  • Deep expertise in mechanical design, familiar with mechanical manufacture process, system shock and vibration requirement, and thermal design knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of system-level trade-offs across electrical, mechanical, thermal, shock/vibration, and reliability domains
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive complex programs to completion
  • Recent experience in mechanical part and product design
  • Experience mentoring engineers and fostering team development
Desirable Requirements
  • Typically requires 12+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor's degree; or 8+ years with a Master's degree; or equivalent experience
  • Experience in fixed and desktop system architecture, collaborating with global engineering teams and ODM partners, and utilizing industry-standard simulation and design tools such as Creo, Ansys MCAD/MBD analysis tools to develop and validate complex hardware solutions
Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $199,750 - $258,500.
