Controls Engineer - Austin / San Antonio, TX

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a long‑established engineering organization delivering high‑performance automation, integration, and control solutions across a range of industrial environments. As they continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer with strong PLC/HMI/SCADA programming expertise to join their growing team.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on engineering environment, enjoys seeing projects through from concept to commissioning, and is passionate about delivering high‑quality, reliable automation systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement control systems for industrial automation projects.
  • Program, test, and troubleshoot PLC platforms such as Rockwell / Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar.
  • Develop and configure HMI/SCADA applications including Ignition, VTScada, Wonderware, or equivalent platforms.
  • Participate in system integration, commissioning, and field start-up activities.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control system documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet performance, quality, and safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of Controls Engineering or Automation Engineering experience.
  • Strong PLC programming experience (Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Ether Net/IP, Modbus, Profi Net, etc.).
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve control system issues during testing and commissioning.
  • Experience in manufacturing, process, utilities, or system integration environments is highly valued.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for onsite support or commissioning (as required).
